 Post subject: wheels and brakes *PIC*
PostPosted: Sat Mar 30, 2002 10:14 am
Here is a pic of the front discs and the rear wheels. I did run into a problem with the front wheels fitting on the suspension. The hole in the center of the wheel is smaller than the bearing housing that sticks out of the rotor. It should not be a problem, just a little machining to do and it will fit fine.

If anybody is going to do this conversion to discs I would buy a complete front suspension kit instead of going to the local part house it is a lot cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks great! I see that you mounted your calipers to the rear to allow for the ant-sway bar to clear. What calipers did you use? do the rubber brake lines run to the front of the wheel or to the stock rear-of-the-wheel framerail mounting location?

My 69 Dart requires new lower control arm bushings. I've got unicast rotors with calipers mounted to the front. I pulled a sway bar off a junkyard GTS five years ago and it is STILL waiting for me to move the calipers to the rear of the wheel! I've decided to go ahead and do it this weekend. The only thing I'm not sure on is moving the brake line or using a different caliper that plumbs a brake line to the rear...

In the past I've bought P-S-T kits. they sell a stock rubber kit for $180. I priced everything
individually and here's what I got:

Autozone:

* TRW upper and lower ball joints, $80.

* Addco hi-durometer anti-sway

bar end links, $12.

* McQuay Norris bushings, 2 lower

four upper, $28.

* tie rod ends (2), $18.

The only thing I haven't factored in that the P-S-T kit covers are the rebound bumpers. Without bumpers, its $140.

Another possiblity is to order a Energy Suspensions hi-durometer bushing kit for $36...

what am I missing? the P-S-T kit seems way over priced....

the brake lines go to the stock location and the bakes are the single piston ones from the 73 duster (i think) I will up grade them in the future. The ball joints, bushing, cam bolts cost just over 300$ from napa. I did both sides and also bought the tools to do it my self. That mite have been why it seemed so expensive?

Hey Andrew,

See my post below. If you have a source for these wheels, and the means to machine the center, I will gladly pay you for a set of 4. I would need to know the backspace and such. Even better might be 4 of the 16X8 wheels?? Sorry if I sound like I'm trying to impose - I'm just eager!

Thanks again,

Lou

Andrew,

I found a single wheel on Ebay, but hopefully can find more. Maybe you could let me know how much you had to machine off of the center hole to fit your disc hub too, or at least the center hole size on the Conquest wheel. They look really cool - thanks for the tip.

Lou
