I had to drop my trans to change the flex plate and converter. I thought since it is out, I might as well change the trans mount. It is not bad, the rubber is cracking and old, but still intact.

I went to Kragen, they had an Anchor brand mount in stock for $7. What a piece of #%&%$! It was made out of much thinner metal, the bends weren't square, and the bolt holes didn't line up (made in India). It wasn't worth 50 cents. I could order a Pioneer brand, but what I've seen of Pioneer brand stuff, it is crap.

I could order just the insert (tough to get in and out though), but chances are it will be crap also.

Anybody have a source for quality trans mounts or inserts that are reasonably priced? I saw some on ebay for something like $70, but it seems like I should be able to pick a decent one up cheaper. I have a 1973 Swinger, A904 trans. The trans mount on my car has the horrizontal bolt that goes through the whole insert.

When I was putting in the new engine last year I ordered a motor mount
(it was either an Anchor or Pioneer), it looked like a cassette tape that had been left on the dashboard in August, all warped and disfigured. I ended getting inserts and using the old frames, but even getting decent inserts was tough.

Try Imperial Services; they have some nice poly tranny mounts for A-bodies. http://www.imperialservices.net/

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.

Thanks, but they don't seem to have the model I need. The Paddock also do not have the right kind.

The one you're after can be had from Schumacher, www.engine-swaps.com (look under "Urethane tranny mounts").
