Tks for the quick reply, :D. I didn't want to post a small novel with my carb problem so more info is in order. The carb in question is the venerable 390cfm and the motor is new rebuilt with .060 bore. The slant has bout 400 miles since install, timing gears are steel, single row chain.I also installed recon dist(2nd one to make sure). Carb is also new but is comin off again for head scratching an perhaps target practice. Runnin bout 20 drgrees adv at idle. Tks again. remember "MOtruck or NOtruck

hate to add bad new but the first 4bbl i tried was a new390cfm,i did everything that i read about tuning even drilling out the air bleeds for idle and high speed, but the car always stumbled off the line, then i tried a used 600cfm and it was like night and day,it seemed to me i couldnt get the jetting lean enough even with 45#jets(4 steps leaner than new shipped 390 carb) :(

Idle circuit too lean or too rich, causing the transistion bog/strumble.

Stick with 390. 600 is BIG for a 225.

Cheers, Wizard

I run a VS 390 and have never had a stumble off the line except when I had too low a number power valve in it with too big main jets.

Right now I have a 10.5 power valve with 52 mains and it is seamless.

Is it a primary bog or are the secondaries opening too fast?
