One other thing you have to remember about a Slant. With stock pistons the piston is so far down in the hole that even at TDC a valve can possible fall too far down to get back up.

I agree with Dan. Use rope and be done with it.

You did not break it in with Mobil 1 did you. This not a break in oil. I alway break in my engines with 30 weight non detergent oil. Racers here swear by that and that is what i use. I use Mobil One in all my cars. I like the rope method over the compressed air. If you loose air preasure the vavle drops down then the head has to come off. Thanks Ron Parker

Im pretty sure that this would be an inappropriate use for hemp rope.

Hemp rope would be more useful after the valve has dropped into the cylinder.....
