Hello,my question is about super six intakes. I run across a lot of these setups in my area. I installed one on my sons car and it has an aluminum intake, it is a factory intake. All the rest of these setups I come across have iron intakes. Were the aluminum ones only used certain years or on certain cars or was there a problem with them thtat maybe I need to know about? THANX Steve

This was a good idea that did not work-out well in production. These manifolds start-out as two die cast pieces, super cheap to make and light weight. The two parts fit together along a flange and then a factory "robot" electron beam welded along the seam.
Sounds easy, it was not, talk about a long weld that goes in & out and all around, then there were casting & fixture problems . . . bottomline is that the welds leak. Many I see have hand "touch-up" welding on them (from the factory). even if the weld does not leak, the unit is so light weight that it can be easly cracked or warped. Basically these are more prone to problems, Mopar issued a number of service bullitons about vacuum leaks caused by poor welds and / or over tightening cracks.
You can (and I have) used these light weight manifolds successfully, you just need to be carefull with them and check for vacuum leaks.

Doc, Thanks for the info about this intake. If I can find a rebuilt engine or somewhere to get this one rebuilt I will probably try to move up to a 4 barrel with alittle more power. this engine is a little tired. Thanks again Doc. Steve: Hello,my question is about super six intakes. I
