Does anyone know the best way to loosen the parking brake "bracket" (it is just before where the two rear parking brake cables connect to the adjuster cable)?
I just replaced the rear brakes and rear parking brake cables and that bracket (uses for lack of a better term) does not move. it has one bolt through it and to get to the other side of it I think that I will have to lower/remove the gas tank.

Should be 1/2" bolt holding it on. Sometimes need to remove brake lines to do this but not the tank. Hope this helps Don

On mine, the only way to get to it did involve dropping the tank; it was held on by a nut on that back side that just spun when I tried to brake it loose. If anybody knows a way that doesn't involve dropping the tank, I'm all ears.

It sure looks like I will have to drop the tank just to get at the back nut. I think that i might try to slide a pry bar up there and just try to keep it from moving. Wish me luck.
I also have open ears when it comes to not having to drop the tank although I need to replace the sending unit too but have not been able to find one at my local parts stores. Any suggestions where to get one?

Thanks,

I managed to give it just the right amount of mechanical adjustment (with a hammer) and now it moves just like it should. I guess that I needed to just loosen the years of build up that was there.
