So im getting down to the nitty gritty on this thing and I need some help getting over the last hump. By the way, none of these pictures are of my engine, im just using them as a reference since I dont know the exact names of all these brackets and whatnot.

Ok so the rod/pin I have pointing to with the yellow arrow...can I buy that at Napa or do I have to use a thin bolt in place of it? I bought my Carb on ebay and it doesnt come with that pin for connecting the linkage and throttle cable.

I have the red arrow pointed to that linkage bracket. Now does the pin need to set all the way at the front of the groove or is it ok for there to be some space in between where it sits and the front when the car is at idle?

Does the spring I have the green arrow pointed to have to be real tight? At the moment I dont have a spring that seems to fit that well enough. Let me know if I have this right. When I mash on the gas, the carb kicks down the linkage and when I let off and slow down, does the spring with the green arrow pull the linkage back up? As of right now I can get the carb to push the linkage down, but I cant get it to pull back up at all with the spring im using. Is that the main purpose of that spring?

Any help clarifying how to get this to work or what extra parts I need would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Neither. Dealer item, 3418 899, about $7.
Matching nut 6030 607

When everything is set up correctly, the pin will be at the bottom/rear of the groove at idle. The reason why there's slot "head space" above/forward of the pin is so that the throttle can return to idle even if the trans kickdown linkage jams for some reason. It's a safety feature.

It should be the correct spring, 4027 590.

Correct.
