Some idiot decided it would be fun to chuck a big concrete chunk through the back window of my Valiant this weekend  . After two "sorry, we can't get one" responses from my local glass shops, where do I go about finding a replacement (and maybe a seal too)? It's my driver and the wife wont give up the garage for very long so I need to get it fixed PRONTO!

Any ideas and/or advice would be a great help. Thanks!

www.car-part.com , searchable used auto parts clear across North America. Pretty wide interchange on that glass ('67-'73 Valiant 4-door sedan + 2-door sedan), so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Would you be interested in selling it? How would it make the journey to Nebraska?

I do buseness with people who will help me might not be the cheapest but I do business with the dealers who help me. Thanks Ron Parker :D

Okay, still working on a windshield. Might have to bite the bullet and buy from Laysons.

Question #2, should I get a new window seal or re-use the old window seal?

I reused a seal on my A-body fastback, and no amount of silicone could keep it from leaking. I plan to use a new one next time.

This is never, ever a good idea. Almost all of his stuff is bought elsewhere and marked up. Umm...why would this even be necessary to consider? Several people have offered to sell you the glass you need, and I provided a search source offering lots of examples of the glass you need, too.

Get a new seal if at all possible.

If you absolutely, no other choice, have to buy from Layson's, I'd do it only at a swap meet where I could actually hold the item I was buying in my hands.

Okay, so no buying from Laysons! Thanks for the tip. Been away from the computer for a while so now I see I have some other options. Yes, I will be getting a new window seal, better to do it right the first time.

Again, thanks everyone! I hope this will be wrapped up soon.

Also, Nino I sent you a PM about the rear windshield. Great to see another slanter in O-town!

I am not sure if you have Elite Auto Glass there, but I called them about one for my Dart. They have them, or can get them.

Thought I would update anyone who was interested.

I found a rear window for the Valiant right here in Omaha from fellow slanter Nino (thanks Nino!). Talk about being lucky, the closest window I could find besides this one was in Illinois (1000 mi round trip!!) I just got the Val back from the glass shop today and it looks great. No leakage so far and everything fits right.

Nino is in the process parting out his '68 200 4 door so I was able to get some much needed interior stuff too. BTW, If anyone needs anything drop him a PM. He won't have the car for much longer and has some good parts still left.

I must say that if it wasn't for this great site I wouldn't be a Valiant owner anymore. So many tips, resources and helpful people right at our fingertips. Thanks guys!
