Hey, I read the tech article on the turbo build up and at the bottom there is a picture of twin exhaust manifolds with turbos. Are these the infamous Dutra Duals, or something else? Where can I get them or how can I fabricate them? Thanks again all you crazy slanters.

Do you want a twin turbo slant or just the manifolds? Doug, did you make a set to fit the turbos or are they the reg. ones? You can use those manifolds and just run some exhaust pipe over to where you want the turbos. One thing that I have found is that most people think that the turbo has to mount on the header or manifold, which is not true. I say give it a shot. I would love to see another turbo slant beat up on the v8 guys!!!

Andrew, I want to build or purchase at least the exhaust manifolds, two turbos piping, and an intercooler and intake manifold. I am trying to do some research right now before I jump in to a lot of $$$ on an engine that may/may not perform. Doug's setup looks like a really good exhaust setup that I could use but if you have a kit, or any input it would be most appreciated. Hey Doc, how much would a set of these cost me??? Thank you both for your time and patience.

It is a 1965 barracuda stock 225 single barrel with a 904 behind it. the tranny has seen better days and the six is leaking oil around the hed and oil pan on the plug side.

Thats his article on how to build it...

But go here for some pictures. Unfortunately, he doesnt have much information (that I can find) beyond that.

You don't have a lot of room but a twin turbo could be done. I could make the parts you need but I would have to have the car at my shop to do it. Where are you at? Just the fact that I don't think it has been tried and just all the piping involved in doing a twin turbo slant with intercoolers.

I think a Twin Turbo would be a little difficult, considering the starter location.

Maybe I speak of a different yeared motor. =D

I live in - brace yourself - Eagle Idaho. I doubt I am anywhere near your shop. I was hoping to get a light weight starter that is smaller and then work with clearances. Everyone who I have talked to say that the hardest part of a turbo setup is the exhaust manifold, and intake manifold due to the amount of heat that they need to be able to withstand and not warp or crack. Any help you can give me would be invaluable.

Sure, there's a smaller, lighter starter availible. While you can buy it through Mopar Performance, it's really the stock starter from the '90s era 3.9, 5.2, or 5.9 pickup trucks.

I'm not a turbo or Mopar expert but I have built two turbo systems (well three actually) in my lifetime. These were for four bangers.

Twin turbos is usually intended for V8s because there are two exhaust manifolds. Such as using two smaller T3s.

Since the Slant 6 has only exhaust manifold, why not use a single Garrett T4 which is sized for a 6 cylinder?

If you can find a steel shorty exhaust header for a Slant 6 you can cut the flange off and weld on a T4 inlet flange. Welding cast iron is iffy. The weld either sticks or it burns through the metal depending upon the quality.

I can dig up some pics of my builds. I actually still have both cars.
