This was the first race at Medford and what a great venue. The track is set in the pines and part of a larger sports complex that has a Nascar, go kart and motorcylce tracks. When we entered, they had a parking "rep" there to take us to our separate parking area which was right along the fence area about half track. We could set up chairs and watch all the races right there at track side. Behind us, was a large shaded grassy area with tables where several set up their "tent city" with BBQ's ect. Most teched on Friday night and/ or early Sat. This event was the annual 'Gasser Meet' and there were Willys coupes, Anglia's all over the place along with front engine dragster and even a blown flathead dragster. They gave us three staging lanes to use for time trials and most got 5 or 6 runs on Sat before we started eliminations. Dave Erickson had his motor home setup right along the track and was the designated slant6 headquarters where all the slant6 "business" and "bull sessions" took place.

We ran our own separate slant6 program on Saturday and then on Sunday, we ran in the tracks Inliner program which included the flathead dragster along with all our cars. Seymour drove all the way from Minn. and was busy racing his car and taking several rolls of pictures for the upcoming Slant Six Racing News. The track on Saturday evening had a live band for all the racers to enjoy along with one of the finest BBQ's ever at no cost. BBQ chicken, corn-on the cob, potatoe salad, BBQ's brautwurst, chili, and blackberry cheesecake for desert. What a spread and a real hit with all the slant6 racers. For those that missed this event, it was your loss...but we are scheduled to attend the September Hot Rod Reunion again at Medford so mark it on your calendars.

Wayne,
Great up-date and a great event, lot's of fun and a nice track.
Allen and I made it home safe in 6.5 hours, we waved at a lot of racers as the Dacuda passed them on the highway!

It was good to see some of the .org people out ot this event, it is great to now have a "face" with the names.
I have some photos I should be able to post in the next couple of days.

What Andrew didn't mention was that he just started racing with our Killer Bee team and this was just his second race of the season. He won several rounds and finished at 3rd place at a National meet. His group of supporters also made the rounds with the "money cap" and ended up raising more $$ than ever before. This goes to show that anyone can have fun if they just come out and bring their car and try slant6 bracket racing. Is there any truth to the "rumor" that Mrs. Howard may try her "hand" at driving some time in the future?? Thanks you guys...see you at Redding in August with your four barrel addition.

We had 13 cars show up to race at Medford which was a good turnout for a first time event. Seymour drove all the way from Minn. and raced with us on Saturday. Gary Nelson had made all the Killer Bee Team members their own personal CD from the previous race at Redding and we added three new team members to our team...Dave Mueller , CJ and Doug. Several cars from Oregon/ Washington showed in addition to many from Northern and the Bay area. Glen Terry won the extra $$ for taking out 'Richard The Sandbagger' who had a "bounty" on his head from winning Redding. Richard didn't go easy though and it was late in the finals when he finally lost a round. I bet later on this year he will have a chance to get even....New racer, Randy Judge cut the best reaction light during the finals and ended up with some extra $$ for his time. Glen Terry won a very close one against Gary Willis from Oregon who had his 68' Dodge running in the 14's all day and Glen ended up winning the $200.00 first place money plus extra "bounty money" plus a additional $200.00 from Clifford 6-8 who is sponsoring our West Coast races for this year. He must have been in a good mood as he was seen with a couple of good looking ladies who were frequenting Andrews' pit area. You all missed one good slant6 event and we will return to Medford in September for their Hot Rod Reunion race.
