Hello,

I have a 77 RamCharger 4WD That I would like to get the steering box rebuilt on,

It's all over the road and I use it as my tow vechile, It' alredy hard enough to keep that trailer from swayin when the steering is in good shape.

Anyway Here is my Question, I recently bought a 75 D 200 With power steering from paul the welder - (Good deal and transaction). Anyway I wanted to yank that power box which is a saginaw unit to get rebuilt So that I have minimal Down time with my Tow RamCharger - Will this swap Work??

It appears they are the same box Just the 4WD one is turned sideways with a different pittman arm, And yes I paln to install all new tierods and pitman arm when I ionstall the rebuilt box into said 77 RamCharger.

Thanks for the help!

Greg

I have an 83 Ramcharger and the rear springs are gone (one side a broken leaf). I once helped a buddy with a Mitsu pickup haul some shingles and he was able to take twice what I took as I was all over the road because the front end was unloaded a bit. 2WD. Just a thought that maybe his is your prob too.

On all my Dodge 4X4s Ive had over the years, (79&80 Ramchargers, 81 Power Ram,97 Ram 1500) the steering box COUPLER was the problem with being all over the road. Also check the rubber "donut" a few inches from where the steering col. comes out of the firewall, where the "extension piece" attatches to the end of the column. On the 97 I bought a new shaft from Borgeson as NO ONE sold just the U joint and the local driveshaft shop wouldnt touch it. I did have to replace the steering box on my 97 for leakage, but it was tight as it shoulda been.
