A couple of wires broke off my electronic dist, right at the rubber grommet where they come out of the housing. Can I just solder them back together? Or will this cause any interference ? Thanks for replies.

You can do that, but if the plate and distributor is old/original, now is a good time to replace the plate/pickup and get in there and check the rest of the distributor out (like put grease where it needs it, reset the gap, test the vacc. adv. pod and replace if it's tanked...)
