Ok ok this isnt exactly a slant 6 engine question, but i figure this is the best place to ask. In my 64 valiant, the primary hood latch release is broken and doesnt release the hood. To open her up i have to bang on it and pull for 5 minutes or so till i get lucky. I was just wondering if this is a common problem and if theres a quick fix other than replacing the whole unit.

On mine, if I push down on the hood a little while opening the primary latch, it works smoother..........

is your latch the cable-style, operated from within the car? or the linkage-style, operated from the grille?
