Guys,

Thanks to all who weighed in on aluminum porting recently. I promised a quickie report. I did aluminum for about 4 hours this evening. I never got to wax, darn if PAM didn't do so well I stuck with it after trying WD40 and PAM. Four hours and not ONE chip in the burr or one chatter. I used a round nose 1/2 inch double cut Christmas tree and found SLOOOOOW speed was the trick As in probably 300 rpm, not 10,000 or 2,000! Man, if only iron was this easy! At the slow speed you can kock off one shiny high spot at a time and hold with one hand, like writing with a pencil. The PAM just stays in place, chips kinda sit in it, and you and tool tool don't get greasy. If I ever do Aluminum again I sure will use PAM 1st with WD40 as next choice , and work from 200 to 2000 rpm.

Great stuff, rock. I'll keep those tips in mind for my next alum job...

Any chance you're coming to Wilkesboro this weekend?

Lou
