I know the extra flow characteristics of the Hyper Pack intake would be limited by the flow of a 2BBL carb, but for those of us with economy in mind, do any of you guys think that the longer intake runners would help with fuel vaporization (and as a result aid in combustion) enough to make a difference in economy over a Super Six intake?

Yeah it's a pretty oddball question, but it's just something that popped into my head and sounded like an interesting idea.

IIRC doc had pictures of some of his ealry repops with 2 barrels pattern on the flange, fuel bowl parallel to valve cover.

The extra 'ram tuning' never happens at street speeds buddy (unless you like running 5.88's behind the A-904)...to keep the fuel in suspension you'll need to maintain lots of carb heat and hot intake air to keep the 2 barrel running OK... running a Holley 500, would be better (you won't get good gas mileage there...).

You'll richer and farther ahead by just sticking to the short ram manifolds for daily driving...

Had a feeling that fuel pooling up in the manifold would be the one factor that'd prevent this from being feasable. Didn't realize that it would be a "street driving" only thing though.

Maybe I should go TBI...

I'm not sure TBI would help that much. True, it's more consistent and controllable but the real problem is the long, relatively cool path that the atomized fuel must travel before getting to the combustion chamber.

I think port injection would be perfect for this manifold however..

Since it moves the fuel closer to the head, this is the only solution I see to solving the Hpak's problems.... Air can flow around anything, if the air is carrying some vapor, it may 'drop' it off to get where it's going...

The only thing I wonder about is how effective the 'ram' charging effect will be with air (dry manifold EFI) vs. having it sonic through with a wave/charge of denser air/fuel (wet manifold/carb-TBI)....

All on the Newer Production Engines Use this sort of manifolding and they have been for about 15-20 Years Now, Most of them are just "folded over on top of itself, Rather than using the Long Runners - They are Long runners and or big plenums with a bunch of folds for space considerations.

So the efi Idea should be fine.
