I have been told my drums are too thin to be remachined. I ain't paying someone to put new drums on the dart. Can I just do a search at www.carpart.com to find some drums to put on there? I have a 75 dart custom which is a four door. Not sure what the rear end measures.

Also, they tell me my wheel cylinders are leaking. I just installed those 2 years ago, got them from AutoZone I believe. First I am going to verify this for myself, but if that is the case, is there a more reliable source for wheel cylinders?

I just did a search for drums and found 3 brands, Brembo, Centric and C-Tek by Centric. Can anyone recommend one over the other, price ranges from $50 per drum for the Brembo, to about $20 for the cheapies.

Also, can anyone recommend a brand for shoes and pads? Thanks

The only Centric parts I have seen myself were some wheel cylinders I bought for the dart. I had some problems with them and removed them, there were no expanders in them, just small springs and one of the cups was deformed. I would never buy any of their junk again. I got them because it was what the shop had in stock. I ended up ordering Raybestos PG plus cylinders from Rockauto and they are fine, hardly more expensive than the worthless ones.

I have had good success with Raybestos and Bendix for Pads, shoes, drums and rotors. I have used Brembo on foreign cars and they were good quality, but that was years ago. A few bucks now and you will have brakes that work much better and save you in the long run. Cheap drums and rotors don't last at all. They only save you money if you are getting rid of the car right away befrore they cause trouble.

If the drums aren't out of round and/or scored, you don't have to machine or replace them.............
