this should be in the suspension section, but here goes. You can go as large as 15X7 but you must have a back spacing of 4.25 on that size. Keep the same ratio of back spacing to wheel width to have bearings correctly centered, and front end alignment geometry correct. This rules out Mustang wheels as they have a back spacing much, much deeper than this. If you have the small bolt pattern wheels your easiest upgrade a set of stock ralley wheels which I think are 14X5.5. They can be pretty pricey these days, but I think are worth it. They will look quite nice on most A body cars also.

Tire sizes are pretty safe as big as 225 wide, but I think 205 is a better compromise between efficiency and grip. 205/65/ 15's, or 205/70/14's are about the same diameter as your stock wheels and tires.

When I got my car it had 13" wheels and very small tires. I went to 14's with 175's right away, and immediately the car handled better. Each time I went up in size, the car felt more stable, and tracked truer. When you have it aligned, ask for the highest caster setting they can attain. Usually you can only get one side or the other to 2 degrees positive or so, and both sides must be the same so that will be your limit.

Thanks for the reply. I actually posted this twice in the suspension section, no responses. I knew someone in the engine section would reply! I was actually thinking about Cragar s/s wheels, i have always wanted to get a set of cragar's but never did!
