If you really want a 12 second car the easy way, build a 14 second Slant and spray it.

Well, your options on a 12 second slant pretty much come down to these:

1. Turbo (or maybe supercharged if you want to be creative), EFI optional
2. Nitrous. Lots of nitrous.
3. A really wild naturally aspirated buildup, probably combined with serious weight reduction
4. An only slightly less wild naturally aspirated buildup, but swapped into something really tiny like a Morris Minor

Doesn't have to be. See my build in the slixers gallery. 2nd weekend out and 13.7's. About a $1500-1800 budget. But you have to do all the work yourself.

I have always wondered why people do this...if you really want to go fast, get a bigger motor. I suppose just going fast isn't what this is about. It's about making a little and a little outdated motor go fast. Sort of like climbing Everest I guess...people attempt it to see if they can. It isn't so much about beating the mountain, it's about beating themselves and doing something others can't do. Likewise making a slant go fast...it must be about doing something others can't (or won't) do. Davey

 Now you got it :) But it is nice, when you beat the mountain, also.

The thrill is watching 50 people walk by pig block cars at the track to see the car with "the funny sounding motor".

Not to mention the fact that I can hammer quite a few pig block street cars.

Amen!

Even with a mild rebuild like mine it is fun to eat new Mustang GT's for lunch.
No more gutless pinging and groaning. My motor really woke up! With a 2.76 posi I can smoke the P235-60 14's.
Before it was a mild mannered grocery getter.

By the 74 and rebuild it! I did and I like it! :D :D :D
