I had the impression that voltage regulators were less than that. This is just the standard one for a 1963 valiant.

The mechanical voltage regulators are expensive to build, and even more expensive to build well with quality materials. I think in your situation I would've bought an electronic VR-1001 instead, or the Standard/Bluestreak VR-128 equivalent. $43 and change at RockAuto.

There are less costly regulators available. My experience with them has been poor, so I no longer trust them.

Geez, guess Im the lucky one with grabbing a boneyard one for $3 with the wiring and converted mine to the modern Mopar system. I sure the heck wouldn't cough that kind of coin, and NO I'm not a cheapskate!!
