The Piedmont event has been cancelled. Apparently the new owners of Piedmont and the Mopar club could not reach an agreement that was $$$ agreeable for the club.

Any east coast racer that was planning on the piedmont event in their points total needs to seriously consider attend the Madison Il event Sept7-9. Otherwise Bristol will be the last chance in the east.

The only hope we have, within the new slant 6 rules, is if Piedmont Dragway decides to hold its own Mopar event on the same weekend or later. With only a month to advertise IO do not see this happening.

Hey Tom,

Very sorry to hear about the Piedmont event. Was planning on going, and can't make the IL race, but hey I've got plenty of car projects to work on!

Thanks so much for all your help, encouragement, and funding of the Slant 6 races. I hope to have 3 cars capable of attending races next year, so I hope we have some good events put together and attended well.

Hope all is well with you,

Lou

Sorry to hear about the cancellation. Looks like all hopes of trying to catch Rodney or Glen on the West Coast are out for me but we hope to have a good turnout for Bristol. My sponson is putting a $1,000 up so maybe we can get all the east coast racers chasing the money. Good to hear from you Tom and hope to see you at future races.

I was considering going to 2 or 3 of the remaining races in hopes of holding off the rest of the pack for a good spot in the top 10 this year.

Wasn't looking forward to 14 hours and many gallons of gas to get to Madison,(and back) but it's looking like an even more important choice.

Looks like points wise nobody in the east has any chance of catching Rodney!

 What a bummer.

This was going to be the closest race to my home this year, and I had finally gotten time off from work to attend.

I was going to try to use Bristol and Piedmont to get into the top10 in points. Looks like Bristol is going to be pretty important for everone on the east coast now.

Is that the track that Herb McCandless' kid bought?

"Turbo cars are economical. I have over $50K in mine and went .08 quicker than the Cox Brothers nitrous car once. I spent $10K on an engine management sytem to do it too. Too bad I didn't spend $7 on Loctite."

Hey guys. Sorry for the cluster this has turned into. We went back and forth and couldn't come to an agreement. We're just trying to get through this year, as I took over the track mid year. Next year, you won't believe the type of mopar event we're going to do. I mean, it's a McCandless owned track, how can we NOT have a big mopar day :). We just didn't have the time this year to do it right.
