i just had my 3 speed reworked. when i got it back, they returned the rear cover casting. it looks real good to me. i think it was replaced for a worn rubber mount bushing. mine is in an A108 van. it has that single, giant rubber donut in it. are these rear casings rare or worth anything unusual? is it possible having a spare cover could allow for adaption of a car tranny as a replacement for the van?
any chance it would fit an appropriate automatic for my truck?

I have not seen a rear case that was on a manule that would fit
a auto trans yet (but I have not seen everything). There are some
shared parts, but not the case.

If it was replaced there may be a rear bushing problem or other
problem with the case. I would be worth asking why it was replaced.
If it was a bushing issue or mount issue, I would inspect the driveline yoke for scarring
and have the driveline checked for ballance before use.
