NOS usually means $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

BUT they are much better fitting, quality, etc.

One of the major scams on E-bay is selling a part as NOS that actually is used/reproduction. It is truly a "buyer beware" situation. :(

The other accepted term in the field is "NORS", which means New Old Replacement Stock. That refers to new old stock parts not made by the automaker. So a Chrysler, Mopar, or Chryco distributor cap made in 1966 and never installed would be NOS, while an Echlin, Standard, Wells, or Ampco distributor cap made in 1966 and never installed would be NORS, for example.

I have been seeing some interesting variants on the term lately on ebay; there's one guy selling old remanufactured carburetors at high prices; he calls them "ROS" which he explains means "Rebuilt Old Stock". That's kinda...

...yeah.
