Didn't want to hijack the other oil press question so here's mine. About 8thou on my rebuild. 50 plus lbs at idle cold,45lbs ilde when hot, until couple days ago.Now 30 or so cold idle and 10 hot idle. Couple trips to town like that and next trip, back to 50 and 45!!! Everything is nice and quiet no knockin or howlin,15/40 shell and just changed it and filter to cover that base.No leaks no burning I am totally confused.BTW I'm a belt an suspender guy so we have idiot light and mech oil press guage, hooked up a spare one its readin the same.Any sl6 ghosts in oiling system :?: Oh it's a 83 hyd putt putt. Thanks :? :? :(

Most likely culprit I believe would be the oil pressure relief valve getting stuck partially open. Should be an easy clean out to get it all stabilized.

I second David. I've had my relief valve stick open and had next to no oil pressure. I'd pull the plunger from the pump, make sure it's smooth and that there is no trash in the pump.
