The "Killer Bees Racing Team" were out in force this past weekend at the two-day Medford (Champion) raceway. We had 16 cars show up and all 16 raced both days. On Saturday, National points contender Glen Terry went all the way to the finals and then won the finals giving Glen another 41 points to add to his point standings. On Sunday, they combined all of the slant 6 cars with another 2 additional Inliner cars making the ladder a full 18 cars. On Saturday, there was $600.00 in the "kitty" along with a $200 Certificate from one of our Major sponsors.. Clifford 6-8. On Sunday, Champion raceway put up $500.00 plus trophies for the combined Slant6/Inliner group. Aric Erickson with his consistent "Swingin' Six" made it five rounds to win the $$ and trophy against hard running Richard "The Sandbagger". Again the track ownership gave us the prime parking areas, free BBQ, live music, two..yes two separate lanes for just slant6 cars...They were so accomadating, the tech officials came out into the pit area and did there tech work mostly as a group. Weather in the 70-80's..no rains...We had another father'son team there and word has it, that there is another father/son team in the making . That will make our team have 6...yes 6 father and son teams and one father/daughter team. Photos coming via Doug , CJ and Aric.

As always- Jess, me, and my sister in law Rhonda all had the best of times!! Just racing is a great weekend, but when you combine that with great people, and a group that is so willing to help one another, it just makes it that much more . It is almost sad to have our season come to an end....but building a car for next year will get me over that, and keep me anxious for the new year to start. I will try to post some pics after work....have a late day to start now.

People, if you haven't raced with this group you're missing out. If you think you need a high buck car to take home a trophy or cash you're dead wrong. My car has a completely stock drive train excepting a mini-starter and small battery. It still has points, Holley 1 bbl and stock muffler!

I had a great time at the event even running 19.27 on a 19.40 dial to loose to Richard (FoPar) in the 1st round on Sunday. Saturday I had done a little better as I beat Richard at the tree and ran closer to my dial-in than he did and took the win. Next round I was up against Glenn Terry and didn't account enough for the wicked tail wind and ran 19.15 on a 19.50 dial. Ooops! Glenn also broke out, but only by about .009 sec. We'll leave out the difference in reaction times and just say that Glen cuts a good light.

Let me tell you this. Running 2.76s and the 3-speed column shift was tricky at the light. Trying to get a good reaction time and not bog or spin takes more practice than was available. I cut a few lights under .100, but most were hovering around .220 sec.

If I want a better light and more consistent ETs I should probably throw in the 904 sitting on the garage floor. The only problem is my spare '73 vintage motor will have to also be swapped in as my '67 crank won't accept the late torque converter. Now who's got a '67 automatic column they would part with?

Let's see now,

Better get something up on the board!

Sunday was a battle for Inline Supremacy. It came down to Fopar, Richard "The Sandbagger" Bjerklund and Aric Erickson in Swingin' Six.

Here are the results!

I'll catalog the photo's and resize them.

Allen and I made it home safely but my back is now 'killing me'. That "so low" Dacuda, with rock hard suspensing and seats to match is not the car for these long road trips!

Anyway, I had a great shot at knocking Glen T. out of the action in the first round Saturday and blew it by breaking-out... off the gas and on the brakes. :x

The weather was hard to gauge and the air was always changing so there were lots of break-outs and real some fast runs. The 1 bbl Dacuda ran some 15.90s and one of those was on the brakes!

I will see if I can get some pics posted in a few days (I only shot film)

Now I need to take some Motrin and thrash on the Lancer to get it ready for Sac. on Saturday!

I'm sorry I missed it. I had a mishap with my car Friday night after working on the brakes the previous couple of days. In my hurry to get the car done and get ready to go out to dinner (and a test of my brakes), I completely and stupidly forgot to remove the towel that was under my master cylinder (I didn't want a mess  )

Guess what happens when you have a somewhat oily towel sitting on hot a exhaust pipe.

Anyway, in the parking lot of the restaurant, I was putting out an under-the- hood towel fire, and a nice tow truck ride home after dinner.

Some wires, speedometer cable, throttle cable, and power steering hoses are now being replaced .

Congratulations Terry and Aric!!

Here you see Charlie Staged in his '75 4spd Dart. Glen is staging his Yellow Dart.

Down track as Glen overtakes the stock Dart Charlie drives.

And the Beacons show Glen's win. (He was behind the board by the time the ET posted.)

The racers get together afterward!

I hope to see everyone at Sacramento Raceway on the 29th. I finished my car Saturday. Next year I'll try to get into the series with you guys. Do you race while another race is also going on? Or does the track just open up for 20 slant 6 cars?

Well that was a great way to end the racing season. It was alot of fun to be able to meet so many who have the same sickness for the slant! It was also a great pleasure to have a group of people that could have fun on and off the track, if it was about just the run down the track i problably would not compete to often.
From the looks of it next year will see more cars and i hope it will continue to grow. I will also have another slant car for next year and maybe Michele will be driving  .

What Jessica failed to comment on was that she made her "maiden voyage" during actual time trials on Sunday and did GREAT..Now she can wear her Killer Bee Tee Shirt as a official member of our team..Congrats to you and also your sister for also making a timed pass in Andrew neat 63'. Andrew and many others have winter slant6 projects and will most likley have them ready for early slant6 racing in 2008. The Killer Bees are growing and growing in numbers.. Must bee the good West Coast weather...photos coming later...Thanks CJ for pic's..thanks Tristan and new team member, Josh...what a neat two door post Plymouth..Yes...go with the 904...I think they make a adaptor though for the early/late convertor...Glen Terry had one ...Check with Glen and or Doug.
We missed Randy ...sorry to here about the mishap...Happy belated birthday...Later for Killer Bee Hive Headquaters...Wayne/Aric
