OK guys the time is near only 16 days to the final race of the season at Bristol. The purse will be $1,000 or more from our sponsor of the race Southern Chemicals in Dalton, Ga. Lets all try to come out and make this one of the best slant races on the east coast. Dont know yet what the points totals are for the top racers but it looks like it will be between the east coast racer Rodney Hargis and the west coast racer Glen. We will have a large banner advertising slant six racing in the pits. So please everyone try to make this event. I think if we have a good turnout my sponsor will be more likely to help us out with the race again next year. SEE YOU ALL AT BRISTOL

Hey NORM,

What day is the points race?

I'll be there either way, but James L wants to come and has a wedding on Sat.

Lou I will need to check with Ron Parker. He was talking with Ken Hensley and was trying to set the points race for Saturday. They are having a mopar meets the world on Friday and I hope to get up there in time to do some racing friday. Look forward to seeing everyone. My racing schedule has been limited due to my wife's surgeries but everything looks good for Bristol.

OK, Sunday it is. Hope to be there part of Fri and Sat too. I'll be there in the Wilkesboro-winning '68 Dart. Hopefully I can drive it as well as Paul did!

Lou, any chance of me getting use of a car again. I know it's a lot to ask.

If not, I will still try to bring the Aspen in it's current tune. It's a little thirsty for a 9 hour drive, but at least it's not very fast  Honestly, if you are doing a head count, you can figure me in. Who has a place I can crash on Saturday night?

A Sunday race is rough because I start a new job on Monday (if not sooner) What time does it usually finish up? Is this one of those huge Mopar meets where you wait all day to get two time trials or will we get 3 on Saturday and two on Sunday before eliminations?

Who else are we expecting? Would think it would be a big race seeing as how it's the last of the year.

I would expect about 14-18 cars, esp since it's the last race on this end of the country.

Paul, I'm afraid I'm going to have to run the 68 this time. The 64 just cannot get off the line consistently right now. You are welcome to stay at my place on the way down if you like. Maybe someone else has an extra car?

Anyone is welcome to stay at my house in Blacksburg, but I am about 2hrs from the track. If I stay over Fri or Sat night, I will just camp/sleep at the track. It is a nice facility and has showers and everything.

I anticipate coming down for Fri afternoon and Sat morn, then back to Blacksburg, then back down early Sun morn for the whole day. Race should end between 4 and 6 if weather is good.

Paul, congrats on the new job!

Lou

Paul, congrats on the new job!
Thanks, the only problem now is that it looks like I would need to drive straight home from the track on Sunday and hope to get home by 2 am so that I could start my new job at 7 am Monday morning! :? I'm not sure I'm up to the task.

If anyone, I think Lou understands the risk of pushing those limits.

The exact details of my start date/time are still up for discussion, so I will be looking for a way to delay for a day, but after being off work for months, it's seems unwise to drag my feet.

I shall begin to prepare my car for the trip in hopes that the job issue will answer itself. I'm considering several measures to save gas for this trip. I will bring it up as a tech topic, if anyone has time, please check out the topic and offer help.

Thanks,
Paul

I've got my route planned and car tuned as well as I can. Still haven't heard from work, but that should be in my favor.

Looking forward to some racing before winter hits and don't plan on giving up my points spot without a fight. I talked to Brian and he has a meeting on Saturday and can't make it and Greg is usually too involved with his students by this time of year to run off and go racing.

I've got Lou's cell number, so I'll give him a call once I'm on my way to let you guys know. Maybe I will head out on Friday afternoon.

Paul
