New Lifters/Old engine??

Post subject: New Lifters/Old engine??

Hi Again - Anyone can answer this'n - I am putting back together an older engine ( head gasket went) The lifters are exposed - they are old - should I slap in new ones while its opened up?? Some have said they wont match the cam - but is that really THAT important?

If the lifters are not concave on the bottom, then I wouldn't put new lifters in. If the wear pattern on the cam lobes is narrow and on just one edge of each lobe(except at the nose of the lobe) then the cam is OK, and will take new or good old lifters.
