I have a 64 & 66 dart both have the pivoting rod gas pedal. I would like to upgrade to the cable actuated gas pedal. should i be looking for a specific year a body; is there specific measurement and or template i can use?

I installed a cable style, suspended pedal from a '79 Aspen in my '64 Valiant. It fits okay, but the mounting bracket falls right across a bend in the firewall. It works fine, but it could look neater.

Seems to me a gas pedal from a '64-66 Valiant or Barracuda with a 273 V8 should fit nicely. While you are at it you could do the Super Six upgrade.

You can use a 67 up A body pedal and cable (6 or V8). There is some "adapting "required.

thank for the input, I just started looking for that set up; so far having a difficult time finding a complete donor car.

64 to 66 V8 cars have the correct gas pedal, I converted my 66 Valiant. I also have a 65 car with a 70 gas pedal in it it works fine but its not as clean if an install. Be sure to get the gas pedal and not just the linkage. Your slant six pedal is different than a V8 pedal.

I installed a gas pedal and cable from a 74-75 Duster into my 64 Valiant with 2 barrel. It worked but it is not comfortable. I need to find something that works out better. I have a set-up from 76-78 Aspen, but it didn't look like it would fit very well so I didn't try it out. I looked at some set-ups in a Hot Rod Supply catalog, but they were expensive and looked to require a lot of work to install. I guess I will have to start beating the bushes for the V8 set up from a 64-67 valiant/dart unless somebody has found a better option.

A 65 or 66 slant 6 A Body with air also has the same pedal/cable set-up as the V8. Both are hard to find[/quote]

Plus, I think it has to be factory air (integrated into the heater assy), not the dealer installed one.
