i am going to be getting a slant out of a 64 power wagon soon with the plans to build a long rod motor with MegaSquirt efi. i haven't decided on compression yet.

are there any differences that would make this engine a poor choice? i will be putting a four speed behind it and possibly a five speed soon. the only problem i can see running into would be the fly wheel end of the crank.

There is nothing different between your truck engine and a car engine that would prevent you from using it, but there was an improvement in the head, 1967 and later heads have better combustion chambers, also there are some improvements in the block 68-75 blocks are slightly better, extra ribbing.

The 64 Power Wagon motor should have a (shot peened) crank, for heavy duty application. The passenger car motors had the standard forged crank.

the head thats on the motor is a peanut head, but i have a 68 or 69 head that i am porting and getting big valves for.

the fly wheel should bolt on no problem, right? is the pilot bearing the same size? besides the crank being shot peened(which is better, right?) all the dminsions are the same? sorry for all the questions, just make sure i can use what i'm getting.

Get the numbers off the engine to be sure of what you're actually getting.
