The main thing I'm after is durability under road racing conditions and with somewhat high spring rates. Stock rockers do not quite cut it and need to be replaced somewhat frequently due to tip wear (also wear valve tips). 1.6 should not cost you anything, and should be better for lower lift cams especially, yes.

Cameron saw a small dyno improvement with the 1.6 rollers on his turbo motor.

I still need to talk to T&D and I will not buy a set if they do not oil properly. The RAS ones do not oil right and are not worth bothering with, IMHO.

Lou

yeah, me being in is provided that there's good oiling, full roller tips and fulcrum, I'd say that I WOULD be in if the gurus here (lou, etc) think this is good stuff.

Uh, can you tell me why your rockers have bushings and T&D says they are to supply needle bearing fulcrum rockers?

What about oil to the pushrod cup? I didn't see any provision for that.

Personally, I am fine with bushings on the fulcrum/shaft.

This looks a lot like the RAS oiling, which is totally inadequate. Bummer. I also don't see any provision for pushrod oiling as Charlie says. Why is this so difficult?? Have they not looked at a stock rocker? For $500-600 a set, this should be right.

I will try to call them and talk about these issues. Very busy right now so don't know when...

Lou

For relatively low RPM motors such as we have, a bushing is fine. For reference, anything but a really high-end rocker will have bushings. Crane and Indy have bushings in their standard rockers too. (At least the ones I've seen on my racer buddy's pig blocks)

The rockers in the picture are almost identical to an RAS/Cox rocker. I haven't looked at mine for a while, but IIRC the RAS rockers are a little wider. :?

T&D said you "could" get bearings instead of bushings. It an option they will give at the time of order. There isn't much in the way of pic's to pick apart the oiling of the cup area yet. I will call and ask about that so everyone will be happy.

Basically, I think they need to make the oil hole going to the valve tip end much closer to the roller tip, and there needs to be a groove on the fulcrum bushing to oil the other side of the rocker (cup end) just like on the stocker. Do they have a stocker to look at? The RAS set has no long groove that picks up oil all/most of the time from the oil hole in the rocker shaft.

There is no oil through the pushrods like on brand X motors...

I had the RAS set on my 64 for 1500 miles and the valve tips were already wearing with no road racing or hard beating, just hwy miles... Quite sad. I refuse to spend my time to fab a spray bar when the dang things are $500+. If I did that, the stockers would probably be just fine even on the road course.

I talked to Sheldon yesterday and he said that both ends are oiled via holes in each end. He said there is a cut away that anyone can look at on their web site and that all rockers are made in this fashion.

He also stated that If you want fully rollerized rockers it is possible but he did state his concern about the rocker arm shaft life that he didn't belive that the shafts would be hard enough. He knew that they oiled from the shaft so I'm sure Lou you may rest easy about that  .

When I asked him these questions he answered them and said that anytime we need to we can ask them. I got in a bit of trouble at work for coming on the site so now I got to do everything(typing/reading) at home. Boy my computer sucks

Latest issue of Mopar Action (I think) has an article on roller rockers. Most do not have needle bearing on the shaft. A few high end ones do, but they require a special hardened shaft as has been mentioned here before.

Talked to Sheldon today. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction and I will buy at least one of these sets.

There are indeed two oil passages, which I saw on their website, one to valve tip and one to PR cup, AND most importantly the holes on the inside are joined by a ~0.100" wide by 0.030" deep groove in the bushing, just like on the stockers. This is what's needed, I believe, for proper oiling.

Look like very nice pieces! Sheldon was very friendly on the phone too.

Lou
