Hello All, I ordered Accel 5047Y wires through my local auto parts dealer. I had meant to get Magnecore but ended up with Accel because I thought it would be easier and maybe better to order through a dealer. My car is a 64 Valiant w/ 225 engine, mechanical distributor, and points replaced with a pertronix unit. The wires will not work for this set-up. There are 8 wires included and the shortest Accel wire is longer than my longest wire. Accel assured my parts dealer that these were the wires being ordered for slant sixes. I guess I missed something here. I would appreciate any comments and I am posting this info hoping this prevents others from making the same mistake.

Er...huh? The above is made up of 100% English words, but I can't make heads or tails of what you are trying to get across.

Accel's service (and perhaps their parts) have really skidded since Echlin sold them and Mr. Gasket bought them. This could of course change again, since now Mr. Gasket have been bought by Prestolite.

The only custom-fit wire set Accel list for a slant-6 is their "Super Stock" (more like "exactly stock", decent quality factory-type wires last time I looked) set number 4061. Your 5047Y is a set sold for AMC, Ford, GM & Chrysler V8 engines. If you want Accel's higher-performance wires on your slant-6, you'd need one of their "universal fit" wire sets, which you cut to length and terminate yourself. Spiral-core set would've been a 5040 (B,K,R,Y depending on what colour you want).

Probably easiest to return the incorrect Accels and go get the Magnecors.

Please refer to this post "HEI Electronic Ignition Retrofit How-To". Accel has refused to refund. I just wanted to make sure no one else makes this mistake. Please correct me if I have misinterpteted something here.

Lookit there. I don't remember writing about 5047Y, but it looks like I must've done. Guess I got that out of the same (old) catalogue your source was using; their current online catalogue gives info as posted above. Thanks for the heads-up; I've deleted the 5047Y reference from the article.

I think there are some other references somewhere on the site to the Accel 5047Y wires. In earlier searches I came across them, but in searching yesterday the only reference that came up was on your post. Thanks Dan for all your contributions, your input is one of the things that makes this site such a valuable resource.
