I was hoping someone could locate that pn like they located the other obsolete number... I took it directly off the part so I have to think that it's right.

Every part in your car has a seven-digit part number, except for a few hardware items (bolts, nuts, washers) that have a six-digit part number. Eight-digit p/ns didn't start until about 2001 or so. Numbers found on a part are seldom the part number; they're usually a casting or stamping number.

That could explain everything... The part that I ordered turned out to be a metal retaining clip pn 02580929...

Leading zero was added to 7-digit part numbers when 8-digit numbers came to be. There is no difference between 01234567 and 1234567.

If that's the case, why is the pn that I ordered ( 02580929) not a bushing? It's a metal retaining clip.

I called another one of the dealers just to verify and his part was a metal retaining clip also.

that must be a part specifying error it happens alot in the part's biz. it is not a wrong part # the person who looked it up did not specify the right
part believe me it happens alot.

That would be me. My fault; I was looking at reference group 23-67-80 (retainer) rather than 23-67-132 (bushing). Sorry for the goose chase.

Correct P/Ns for the bushing in question are as follows:

2631 766 (w/2-speed wiper)
2580 200 (w/3-speed or variable-speed wiper).

Both of these numbers are long, long gone from the system (NS-1 years ago/no longer serviced).

The only wiper system bushing still made is 3799 089, which is used to connect the link rods to the wiper pivots. I don't know if it could possibly be made to work with the aid of some epoxy glue or ???.

No problem at all Dan. I can't tell you enough times how much I appreciate the assistance. I don't know of any better information source for these vehicles.

The advice I've received here has been extremely helpful and seldom led me wrong.

pn 3799 089 was available from my local dealer in stock for about $2/ea

It couldn't have worked better. It especially outshone the rubber band and metal retaining clip that I had rigged up. That worked, but left some play in the system so that the wipers didn't go as far as they should.

Add that to the list of times I owe you.

Tremendous! That's good info for those of us working with vehicles for which the original bushings are NLA. Did you have to do any adaptation or modification to make it work?

My wiper system had three bushings total. The arm coming off the motor had no bushing. There is a pivot point which connects the wiper arm to the arm going to the passenger side wiper. I replaced two bushings there. The passenger side arm to pivot also seems to use the same bushing, but it hasn't failed yet.

My car is a 74, but this pn seemed to work everywhere on the wiper system. If there are other bushings to be replaced I don't see them. I'll try to take some pictures for clarity as soon as I locate my camera.

On reviewing my original request, it looks like I was asking for the wrong thing from the beginning. It was actually the link to pivot bushings that I needed. That aside, I don't seem to have any other bushings in this system. Thanks for the efforts despite my lack of clarity.
