Here's the trouble.

I bought a new heater core for my 73 Duster with air. Seems Proliance is the only company making them and their part number is 399120. Bought one in September but just got around to pulling the old one last night. The general shape is right but the inlet and outlet tubes are bent at the wrong angle where they come through the firewall. They are about 30 degrees pointed to the left.

Anyone else have this problem? Should I try another just to see if the one I got was a fluke? Or test the old one and have the crud flushed out at my local rad shop and put it back in...I'll try and insert a few pics.

Thanks Brent

Early vs. late '73 heater cores, see this thread.

(You've got spaces in your attempted picture links between the link itself and the {URL} {/URL} markup. That's why they don't work.)

It's a late core even though my car was built in January 73. I ordered an early one first and it was different (thanks ma mopar)..Looking closer at the tubes it looks like they were soldered on at the wrong angle. Don't know if I could heat them up and give them a little twist to the right so they would fit.

P.S.

I tried taking out the spaces my pics still don't work. oh well. Just copy the link in your browser if you want to take a look.

thanks

You gotta remember Car manufacturers 'knock off' the model year around may- July depending on the year, sales, orders, and the projected 'run'... So an August to December build date could be considered 'early', and Jan to April/May can be considered 'late'...
