the car I'm working on (1974 satellite) has it's UCA's mounted to a shaft and that shaft is mounted onto (2) upright studs on the K- member. The nuts that hold the pivot shaft onto the upright studs is my question.... I was unaware that these nuts are actually factory "locknuts" in that they have a deformed"wavy" thread as the last thread, that is suppose to prevent loosening. Unaware that anything like this existed, I cleaned up the threads w/ a conventional tap until my coworker pointed out my blunder. I can get Grade 8 "nylock" (nylon retainer band) nuts to replace my damaged originals. Will these do the trick ??

You can buy the proper crimp nuts at McMaster-Carr. They have a website if you Google them. You may be close enough to them to go in and pick them up. :D
