Even funnier, DodgeGirl thought she'd win friends and influence people using...namecalling!
Maybe she should get a copy of Dale Carnegie's book. :D

Good idea...as long as she has someone to help her sound-out the hard words ;-)

You put a smile on my face

Brenn's right on too.

What I'm amused at is this: Buy then get the real world data backup. Of course, they say that doug didn't post nothing, well, I guess that's because he's improving a factory tested solution instead of building a water heater and call it dazzling comercial mispelled names.

If the Powerpipe really increased power AND there was hard dyno data,AND was priced reasonable for what it is,I would buy one but as of so far I havnt seen a dyno test and the design doesnt look to have any scavenging effects.I have a Dutra setup and it works great and also have a set of Clifford shorties that work well.
Show me a dyno test that gives 10-12 rwhp gain and a price tag of $200-225 and I will buy one.

exactly my point... (and I guess, that's what's going on with everybody been so "cruel" about dodgegirl and mr.twisted's powerpipe) A lot of claim with no hard data backup makes me (us?) think SNAKEOIL and the price tag does nothing but reinforce that first perception (to me... )

Dutra Duals are known to be fantastic, their's are not.
I have Dutras on my aluminum block Signet and couldn't be happier,
plus they look alot better than the powerpipe and have known performance benefits. Would have bought their's if there was ANY data that they were better, even though they are ugly

Maybe if MrTwister would have used this "nothing" forum for sugestions as to designing a better manifold/header and accepted some input he might have come up with a design that would have been better recieved. As it is, anyone with an arc welder could whip up one of these things in the garage in an afternoon. The design is questionable at best, and would look out of place on anything other than a "rat rod". Although the idea of a rat rod is low buck.....so it doesn't fit THAT immage either. Maybe MrTwister could partner with Layson's to help with distrubution and run costs up a little higher. If people see it in a catalog it has a much higher precieved value. Almost as much as actual data and quality........

It may work but dyno results would be helpful. See here.

Summarizing 14 pages...the log header/manifold was never more than 14 hp away and never 8 hp closer than the race headers used on an 8500rpm 790hp cup engine. Less then 2% change.

Log in is nothing different at that site. I've even seen our own Lucky13 there.

I have factory dyno sheets that says otherwise. I don't know where I have all those old papers but I'm higly tempted to run thru the pile of old stuff just to share with you guys.

Yep...between 1.3% and 1.7% on an ultra high power V8 engine. Average 1.5%. Now with that in mind, we go back up and look at the figures Juan provided for a Dutra Dual style system and it's even more obvious why Mister Twister and DodgeGirl have refused to answer questions about the "performance" of their welded-up steel manifold.

Are you sure how you're interpreting Shaker223's post? The way I read it, and the (long!) linked thread, a scientifically designed and carefully constructed welded-tubular exhaust manifold showed no advantage compared to 4-into-2-into-1 headers on a high-power V8 engine. We know from your earlier post and from a 20-year mountain of collected experience with Dutra Duals (and from the Hyper Pak and the Australian Hemi-6 split exhaust manifold setups, before Dutra) that split exhaust manifolds give significant gains on slant-6 engines. We also know from firsthand reports by would-be buyers of the PowerPipe that it is sloppily made, and there's no evidence to suggest any science went into it (in terms of stub length, pipe diameter, etc.), so...

Ha! got me on the fly, V8's are a totally different world. Yes, I wasn't interpretating correctly shaker's post. Those figures are dead on for V8's. IL 6's being symmetrical engines do have a lot to win with split exhaust manifolds or headers. You can tweak things even more if you go unbalanced duals / balanced duals / how long before dumping the 2 branches into a big tailpipe, etc.

I repeat MY HUMBLE OPINION  the power pipe looks like an "el cheapo" trailer water heater. No offense intended to trailers nor water heaters. Even the "dual power pipe" looks bad to me. I don't see how the log would help at all if not making things worse than a header. May look sturdier but's a piece of (poorly? people who inspected it say that) welded tube. Looks (again, to me) like a poorly engineered collector. I'll say that I'd go either with dutra true duals (both new castings and no plenum heat) or headers. I'm sure that on our poorly ventilated engine bays the radiation is good enough for keeping the manifold floor war enough not to compromise atomization nor intake charge density. That's on any weather condition with temperatures not dropping constantly below -10°C
