Finally I got around this morning to pulling the front brake drums on my 69 Valiant. I was surprised to find the passenger side drum to be a one-piece unit, but the driver's side was two piece. In other words, the studs and hub came off with the drum in one case but not the other. I looked in my FSM and couldn't/didn't find the answer. The two-piece drum setup on the driverside appears to be newer, i.e. not nearly the rust and crud of the other. What have I got here?

You've got a hub that came detached from its drum. Only the rear drums are "drum only"; the fronts are a drum that has a hub pressed into it. They're not supposed to be hand-separable on the front.

Thanks Dan...sort of thought that is what I had. It works, so I will not replace it soon. What a mix match of parts throughout though. Driver side brake shoes are normal, just a little worn, passenger shoes have a slot manufacturered from one end to the other of both shoes. I've not seen that in awhile. Gotta love the surprises...have a great Holiday.
