progress on the Valiant...
*complete rebuild of the factory 9" brakes fronts and rears- they're not all that bad!
* Sway bars for and aft
* cop style dog dishes w/ newly painted 14" wheels w/ new 195/70-14's
* new universal joints/spiders and side gears
* new belts/hoses
* Fuel line mod
* por 15 entire undercarriage and trunk floor
* trunk light
* detailed engine
* and I found a new old stock Holley 1920 circa '72...Man what a difference from the rebuilt unit that was on it when I bought it.
These are the major things and alot of little stuff...More to come...
plans are to get some pics posted of my factory 2 tone white on black...
just want to say Thanks to everyone for the wealth of knowledge shared here and for helping me make a really fun car to drive!!

Hi Nico, It sounds like you are doing a great job. I am glad you have been helped by the forum. My only advice is to perhaps install only the front anti-sway bar. I had both front and rear on my car, and Dart270 lobbied for years for me to remove it. When I did take it off, the handling improved. It cornered flatter with the rear bar, but it was too prone to overstear, which got dangerous at the limits. If you want mine, I will sell it to you cheap, but I do not recommend you buy it.

Anyway, keep up the great work, and do favor us with some photos some time. We would love to see them.

Too late, I have already installed both sway bars and it has made such a difference. It has not done the 911 turbo switch-a-roo tail swap on me but I have experimented on decreasing radius on-ramps in the rain ( I think that is what they call them) and have been able to kick the tail out intentionally and hold the slide with a counter steer and power through with great control....I guess
I can always remove the rear if it does become objectionable....
Next focus will be to put a good tune on the car for mileage and drive the car for a while...then later maybe raise compression, recurve the distributor and open the exhaust a little... Thanks, nico

You don't need to remove the rear bar.......

I have both front and rear and it handles great.

In tight situations I get 4-wheel drift.......

Maybe mine was bad because I stiffened up the front end so much. I am glad that worked out for you. I guess maybe your rear bar might be thinner than mine was too. Anyway, keep coming back and letting us in on your practices, successes, and questions. As you can see, you won;t get universal agreement on many things.

I am also building a 72 Valiant for my Daughter as her first car and have the front bar installed but will not install a rear as it handles well enough for her and the thoughts of her bootlegging around turns doesnt thrill me.
Her Valiant will be Viper blue with 340 style blackout on the hood and some type of mag wheel. Good luck with your Valiant.

The Viper blue with contrasting black graphic will look great! Good luck with your daughters car as well! Mine will stay original paint...two tone white on black and has the stock wheels with police dog dish caps, it has an old cop car/detective car look...will post pics soon..nico
