Ok I have been reading thru all the posts and I have not found the answer to this question. I bought a new offy 4 bbl manifold and a super six setup. Which one will be better for street/strip applications? Will a 62 aluminum 904 hold up to 200+ hp? I may want to try turbo charging as well. I have bought a rebuilt stock 225 plus I have an aluminum block 225 as well. What size cam? I suppose I will splurge for the Dutra exhaust. Which carb if I use the Offy? Please help

There's no single answer to which cam/intake/carb/etc. is "best". You will want to draw up a detailed, carefully thought-out, very specific list of goals for your vehicle, including a budget, before it's time to pick parts.

I aggree with Dan, It all depends on YOU. Your life style is different that mine,,,mine different than his,,,,You get the point. Also your demigraphics come into play. The set up on my Dart was for the road conditions in PA. When I moved west it was all wrong for the roads out here. Now the tranny (904) will take anything that you can throw at it as long as it is in good condition.Me I like 4barrels,I don't like Holleys.BUT if I was working on a daily driver I would go for a super six. Cam ( now this just me ) Comp # 64-000-5 Grind #CR6 5667/5668 S 108+4 Lift .424 Duration at .050= 230 Intake 238 Exhaust LS. 108. That with a milled head (.100) picked my performance 1 full second and 10 mph in the quarter mile.Bottom end was stock, Clifford intake, 500 AFB and Clifford shorty headers. This set up worked for me, fit my budget and did what was the planned use for the car. Your results may differ.

still reading on all the topics....whew ..got to aggressive Ted's build and the turbo section.. Anyway. I would like 300-350 hp, still be streetable with close to 20mpg. Budget would have to be $3000.00 I have a complete just rebuilt 73 stock 225 and want to put it in a 62 valiant signet 200 I just bought. It will have an 8 3/4 with 3.55 suregrip and 265/60/15 (26 in.) tires. Who would be able to fabricate my turbo setup and help me tune it? I live in ne. Tenn and would be willing to take it several hundred miles..Thanks ya'll and merry christmas.

Personally, I would not consider the aluminum engine for a turbo. Too much chance for head gasket problems.

Hemi62valiant.

Over Christmas I am swapping out the single barrel cast iron intake and installing an aluminum single barrel to see if it will help out the mileage during the cold winter months here in the northwest. I found a real nice one from a truck and am hoping it will warm up faster and atomize better. I am trying to keep the mileage at 24 mpg or better. After I am done I will find a dyno and check the HP output.

This spring my next step is to try a 4 barrel setup, using a Weiand 4 barrel manifold and a Edelbrock 500 AVS. I am running a 650 AVS on my 10/1CR 375 HP 440 in our 69 Chrysler 300. It still get's 19+ mpg when I show self control. I have been driving it 120 miles a day back and forth to work while the Dart is apart getting the aluminum intake transplant. I would think that the SL6 should at least get 20 MPG or better and I should hit 200HP. After I am able to confirm the HP on a dyno, I might try a 100HP shot of Nitrous to see if I can hit 300 HP. Not sure though, my son has been using a 100HP shot of nitrous and keeps breaking axles and drive lines. Puget Sound Raceways was (SIR) Seattle International Raceway is about 8 miles from our house. So the Dart will see some track time in 2008.

I am sure Doctor Dodge or one of the other racers can create a build sheet that will get you to 300HP.
One of my my friends here in Black Diamond just finished building such a motor. He filled the block to stiffen it up, bored it .060 over, custom pistons, Clifford 4 barrel intake and headers, etc. should be a fun year! :D

If you want a turbo buildup with good milage, you might want to go EFI. And it's likely that the Offy would be easier to convert to EFI than the Super Six, simply because it's got more options for throttle bodies, and being made of aluminum will be a bit easier to weld injector bungs to than cast iron.
