Hey Slant Six Racers,

Folks are trying to set a date and location for the end-of-year awards banquet on the East Side of the country.

It looks like there also might be a West Coast gathering, given that our new champion is from there (congrats to Glenn!).

Last year, we talked about having the traditional banquet earlier so weather would be better for travel. I have talked with Gary Bruner so far and he has spoken with Dale Rose a little as well.

Do people think that before Xmas is a possibility? It looks like the weekends of Dec 1, 8, or 15 could work for me and some others? Other ideas?

Location could be Pigeon Forge as it was the last 3 yrs, or Gary Bruner has volunteered his place near Knoxville, TN as another possibility.

What do y'all think??

Lou

Great to hear that there is some interest in the banquet!

Lou, I would love to attend the banquet this year and get to know some of my fellow racers better in a social setting. My schedule is pretty inflexible right now for me. :( However, Dec. 15 is probably the only time I would be able to attend in December.

C'mon people, let's do this!!

December would be good for Cinda and I as well. Pigeon Forge is a good place for us as well.
Thanks
Frank

Brian,

I have not heard anything, except that it will most likely be in Pigeon Forge again and will be in Jan or early Feb.

Maybe Ron Parker or NORM knows more???

Lou

Any updates yet? I can't make it, but I'd like to send "a little something" for those participating to enjoy. :D

Lou, Ron, Norm...? PM me if you know anything and if you're planning on attending. I may need your help in getting "the little something" to the banquet. It'll be Smokey and the Bandit,... German style :) Just look out for Buford T. Justice

Well, I was discouraged from trying to set this up, and Seymour hasn't heard that anything is happening. Are the GA boyz working on this? If not, it may not happen at all.

Thanks for asking, Rob.

Hmmm.

Lou

Thanks Ron,

I assume you are planning to attend (?) I'll shoot you a PM about my Smokey and the Bandit idea. You may have to drive your 340 Barracuda taking back roads to get there so that it's more authentic.

We leave for our vacation in Arizona in two weeks, so I'll need to get the cargo shipped off before that.

Thanks again for the update on the banquet!

So is this still a go? I don't sense all that much enthusiasm. Hopefully I'm off base with that observation. I am usually off base...

Rob everything is still a go. I have reservations and looking forward to attending. Will have trophy in hand for someone to deliver it to California for Mr. Terry the New Champion. I am fairly sure Ron and Dale are committed to being there. I am looking forward to this season and plan on making as many races as possible. I even saved some vacation time from last year so I could have more time off to race this season. Hope we can stir some more interest in racing on the east coast this year. Dale has made the comment he plans on going to more races this year. I cant wait until next weekend I need a break and this cabin fever is killing me. The local track at Brainerd has a race scheduled for the 2d weekend in Feb. Yeah.
