If it is the one listed from Goshen Ohio, I noticed the dash also...I don't have my car literature with me for reference but I took it for a rally dash at first like in the '70 and '71 dusters....is it a barracuda dash??...the speedo only goes to 120 though. It sure is a great looking car! Nico

A few '68 Valiants came thru with the Rallye dash. Probably were used when the std dash inventory ran out.

As production of the 1968 Valiant was down from 1967, I sincerely doubt any Valiant got a Barracuda instrument panel due to a shortage of Valiant units. A Barracuda panel will fit into a Valiant - they did it after 1969 as an option.

And in this case some owner did - the instrument panel in that 1968 Valiant is from a 1969 Barracuda. The 1968 panel, with its trim line just inside the outer edge of the woodgrain background, is almost identical to the 1967 except for the wheel radio. The 1969 panel dropped the trim line but kept the wheel radio. Also, the 1967-68 heater fan switch was separate from the two slider levers while the 1969 was put in a box trim that matched the slider levers treatment.

The air cleaner seems to have been through a rougher time than the rest of the engine compartment. Also notice the steering wheel is not the same colour as the rest of the interior.

Why would the amount produced for one year to the next have anything to do with a shortage of parts from a vendor at any one particular time?
If your theory is correct, then there's the reason, 1,826 more Valiants were made in '68 than '67.
I have seen two '68 Valiants that came thru with the Rallye cluster.
