Hi Guys - over here where I live it is a bit of a pain getting erson - but Iskederian is no problem

The Isky 152116 264/264 .448/.448 109 centerline, 46 dg overlap

228 deg duration at.050
is what I am looking at for my 68 fb barracuda

What kind of results do you want? That is a fairly mild cam. I have a old Crane cam that is 264* and 222* at .050 with .434 lift. It was the mildest cam Crane had in 1977.

Torque then power

My Idea is to use it with the following combo

9.5 CR
Backcut valves - bowl work etc -
Hardened valve seats - none over here

Long runner 3 into 2 with X crossover 2 1/2 inch stainless and borla mufflers

MSD 6A driver by recurved Mopar electronic dizzy - MSD blaster 3 Coil

390 CFM holley 4150 on Australian split plennum long runner inlet manifold, or 2 X 2 weber 36dcd7 on Chrysler RSA Longrunner manifold

68barracuda,

I just checked the specs on that cam on the cam chart just posted a few days ago. It doesn't look good for bottom end torque. It says good midrange 2500 to 6000 rpm.

My thoughts......
If ISKY is all you can get the 152115 would have the low end punch. If you can get Comp Cams the 252S is the same as mine. If you know of any cam grinders you could hand them a used cam and have them grind it for you.
That is what I did for, $35. Not bad since you know the cam works and has survived this long.

I was trying to decide the same thing about a year ago. I talked to Doc and am glad of the choice I made. My engine is pretty snappy! :D
It's biggest limitation is the carb cfm.

For 9.5:1, that looks like a great cam. I drove Mike Andreas' car a few years ago with that comp and cam and it was pretty nice down low. I would advance it 2-6 deg before the Isky specs. Good headwork and induction/exh will make 200HP with that easily.

Comp 252 is basically a stock cam.

I bought the kit that included the 115 cam. I didn't have good luck. They sent me 170 push rods aluminum retainers that looked 30 years old, a cam that was a full two teeth off when I degreed it and the cam it self looked like it had been on a shelf since the 80's it had some pitting on it, and springs that are way to high for anything but full race use. When I complained I got nowhere since they already had my money.

I may try just the cam but I would sure look it over well when I got it and degree it as you should any cam.

Sorry for the rant....I hear good things about the erson group buy if it's still going.

Brent

Did you regrind a old cam to 252S specs?

252 is OK, but it lacks the duration and lift for 'more' (good for daily driver...)...

Comp can grind anything you want... you may want to look at 'other lobes' in the library, using Doc's dual pattern cam as a guide if you can't get an Erson cam....

Any idea where I can get specs on Doc's dual pattern? Have a cam lying around that can be reground

Comp has a cool cam selection tool for free called camquest maybe a bit optimistic on the powerlevel side

Mine is ground like the Erson not the Comp Cam and is a 254 duration .435 lift and advanced 4 degrees per Doc's instructions. Valve lash is .012 and .022 for more punch and mileage.

This was Doc's recommendation since my 74 Dart is kind of heavy 3000 lbs. empty and since I drive a 120 plus miles a day. I needed the low end torque to move the weight plus accelerate quickly on freeway on ramps. My car used to be slug and would ping like crazy. Now it doesn't ping, it will go sideways if I am a little too aggressive with the gas pedal and hit 90 entering the freeway. I don't drive that way all the time but it is nice to have the snap when you need it, like maybe once a day. If I drove like that all the time I get 21 mpg. If I drive with a light foot I get 24 mpg, mixed back roads, city and freeway.
