This is probably a silly question, but I'd rather look stupid and get the right part, then not ask and end up with the wrong part. Where exactly do you measure a brake drum to determine the correct size? Napa lists three different sizes for the rear drums on my '74 Duster; 9" x 2", 10" and 10" x 2 1/2". I would assume that, with the 8 1/4" axle, it has 10" x 2 1/2" drums, but I'd rather measure when I get home to make sure I'm right.

Actually that would be the "Maximum" since turning the drum removes material and increases the diameter. Minimum spec is used for the thickness of a disk brake rotor.

You can measure with a tape measure and get "close enough" to tell the counterman which you have; yes, 9 or 10" refers to the inside diameter on a drum.
