Where could a guy buy a choke well gasket for a '71 Swinger with a 198 sixer? I tried all the local parts stores with no luck.

This gasket's been N/A for a lot of years. I keep meaning to have it reproduced but life keeps getting in the way. I'll get at it ASAP. In the meantime, I'm afraid you're stuck with ultra-high-temp copper RTV :-(

You can also get some sheet exhaust gasket, and cut one out. The mounting surfaces need to be in good condition.

I've used Mr. Gasket #5961 Ultra Seal Exhaust Gasket Material ... but not for a choke gasket.

This would be tough to do, especially since its a thin edge with a hole in the middle... but with enough patience you can do it!

EDIT:
Also do you need the mechanical choke? Or are you using a manual or electric? This might be useful if you don't need it...

I was in the same position you were in, but then I installed a manual choke (electric would work too). Then I took the exhaust gasket material and easily made a gasket to cover the choke port on the exhaust manifold...it was easy since I didn't need to put a hole in the middle. Then I took a 3/8" piece of steel and matched it to the gasket. I then had a little custom block-off piece, no exhaust leaks, and no choke needed! If you are interested in doing this I can get some pics.

Hops this helps!
