Hi I have question about what type of clips or hardware are used to hold the rod in place that connects the inside door release to the latch. The car has come back form the shop and neither door works properly. There were plastic cable ties in the area of the red circles in the photo but they have broken. A visit to the junkyard was not help. Does anyone know what was used originally? The service manual just says "clips".

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am having trouble understanding your picture. The rod should run inside the door. The rod runs from the handle to the latch. The only clips are where the rod connects at the ends. You can get the clips at any auto parts store.

The rod is inside the door. I put the lines on the door to show how much the rod moved when the latch was pulled. There are clips on each end of the rod but I think there was some sort of clip where I have the red circles drawn. My thought is a clip would hold the rod in a tighter range allowing the latch to unlock. To test my theory I used plastic cables ties and the latch worked but the ties broke after 10 -15 pulls of the latch.

I looked as best I can on the Duster. You are correct sort of. Looks to be a bolt in keeper on the door lock (away from the door pull , Left on your picture) mounting hole. 2 stiff(think welding rod) wire pieces stick out towards outer door skin with the rod riding between them. No way to get a picture in there. May list in FSM but dont have one for the Duster as its a Race only car. There doesnt seem to be one on the right hole in your picture. You might try 14 or 12 guage solid copper wire loop and twist it up kind of like a ty wrap.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for looking at your Duster I've tried a bit of wire on the left side and it seems to work. Now that I know it’s held on one side I’ll play around with a few other types of clips. Thanks again for your help.

I think what was originally used were some bridge clips, little pieces of spring steel with tangs on the end to fit in the holes. One side would be inserted in the hole then the other side bent until it went into the other hole. Spring pressure is all that holds them in. If you can't find the right clips try bending some sheet metal strips then hold them in place with screws. A loop of wire might work just as well.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.
