I picked up my cam from Oregon Cam Grinding today. Specs are 268° advertised (.020 tappet rise), 230° at .050", 108° LDA ground 4° advanced so the intake centerline is 104° and I'll advance it another 4°. Oh, yeah, .483"/.489" lift and .015"/.020" lash. I didn't go for more intake duration on this cam as it's a compromise between daily performance and bottled performance.

With my deck height at -.177" I'm going to take .100" off the block and mill the head for 50cc chambers. I have all the head parts I need, double roller timing set, rings, cam bearings and an oil pump. Just need gaskets, main and rod bearings.

I'm now leaning toward the automatic for this so I think I'll be selling some 4-speed stuff to buy a good torque converter.

Hey Josh, I'm cleaning out the shed to bring the FDX hull home...

I have the 1967 A-904 out of Beater Valiant if you want it to play around with... it'll need a complete teardown, but 'free' is a very good price...

PM if interested...I'm cleaning up my garage tomorrow and should have some kick down linkage too when I find the appropriate box...

The engine is for my '67 Valiant 100. Other than the cylinder head and torque converter I'm going to see what I can do with 'junk'. The only reason the short block is going to see the inside of a machine shop is for cleaning and decking. The head is getting the Engine Builder oversize valves, Comp springs and retainers and a home porting job.

I forgot to say the cam was $75.74 with Washington sales tax. $70 without tax. I already have new Sealed Power lifters.

Eastco Machine called and said my head is ready. They had to take .080" off the head to get it from 62cc to 50cc chambers so the published .0066" per 1cc is correct. The head was cut for 1.70/1.44 stainless valves, guides shortened and cut for positive stem seals. They also fixed the rearmost manifold stud hole which had been drilled oversize and fitted with a larger stud. Now I have to go pay the man and bring it home so I can do the port work and assemble everything. Then the head goes on the shelf while I get the short block ready. Hopefully I don't find and surprises in the lower end since this needs to be a very low buck build. If I do find something bad in the extra motor I'll probably use the Valiant's original 43k mile short block and toss the new standard size rings and bearings in it.
