I always wondered how cool it would be to put one of those mean little suckers in an old A-body car.

We used to beat the crap out of those jeeps back when I worked at a rental car place.
We had burnout contests, push-o-wars, took them out in the woods, and in the snow.
They were indestructable and had plenty of power.

You could burn the tires till they popped.

Why go to all the trouble when you can drop it right into any AMC vehicle with the old 258 or 232... (so if you get lucky enough to know someone with a 1968 Javelin with the 6...wish I could have bought the one our pastor had back in 1978, before he traded it in on a Chevette...)...

Just as an FYI, there used to be a couple of brothers here in Oregon than ran a Hornet wagon with the 258, then a 4.0L... they could slam 12's all night at Woodburn... wish I caught their name...

Just to be different.

It's always refreshing to see different things like that at shows and gatherings.

there was a purple pacer in hot rod magazine a while back. was on the power tour. a dad and his 17 year old daughter built it. they put the 4.0 in it and knocked down 24 mpg on the trip. good motors, they run forever if taken care just like the slant. i have one in my cherokee.

I have 2 of them.... one in a 01 cherokee the other in a 97 Wrangler. Both have proven very dependable, though the earlier ones seemed to have bad blowby problems by 130K or so, judging by some that friends of mine had owned some years back. Seems that the ~92ish and older 4.0s are the most likely to need a rebuild by then... Seen many newer ones than that, running strong with 200K+ on them.
