Give us more information: (1) does the needle move at all; (2) do the mileage wheels rotate? and (3) do you hear any noise coming from the speedometer? It might be a relatively simple fix meaning a new cable or better yet, a good lubication of the one you have.

Remove the speedometer cable from the speedometer and the transmission. When you disconnect the speedometer end, see if the inner cable spins easily. You'll want to find out if the inner cable is broken or seized. You can pull the entire length of the inner cable out of the outer shell to examine it. Next I would see if the nylon (or whatever material it is made up of) is still in good shape...or does it have broken teeth?). Let us know what you find. If you are able to re-use the old cable, be sure to lubricate it well before putting everything back together.

Just re-read what I told you previously about the teeth on the speedometer gear. You will not be able to examine those unlelss you disconnect the speedo cable from the transmission since they are on that end of the whole works. Keep us posted on your progress.

I have to take it up to a speedometer shop to get the bearings fixed. I put a brand new cord on and its still bounces and my needle got bent so Im going to see what they say. Has anyone had to get there speedmeters fixed before. How much did it cost?

SSDan has recommended Denver Speedometer. I don't have the info handy; maybe he'll chime in. I have sent 2 speedos to them but have not installed either as neither project is to that stage yet.

The last one I had done was $130.00 plus shipping.
I have been quoted as much as $200.00 for the job.

You can always try another cluster on ebay for around half the price or so.
