If it werent for bad luck I would have no luck at all!
1983 D-150 w supersix set up; bought the super six outa 79 Aspen had this re-built. I now have two p/s pumps neither of which will align with the pulleys on the block, have tried both mounted pumps and exchanged pumps and mounts.Either the belt is 1/8th short or 1/4 long. one pump has a longer shaft than the other. I am ready to go to manual steering but unless i find a donor this is fiscally unfeasable also. Sugestions?
thanks
robert

Manual steering boxes are fairly easy to find and with a simple column shaft extension are easy to install.

Sounds like either you've got two (different) incorrect P/S pumps and/or two (different) incorrect P/S pump brackets, or the pulleys aren't set up correctly on the vibration damper. The P/S pump is driven by an accessory pulley bolted to the front of the vibration damper. There may be other accessory pulleys bolted on as well, for such things as the air conditioner compressor (if so equipped) and the exhaust air pump. The factory service manual will show the belt routing and pulley arrangement.

I am reading this comment as "front to back" pulley groove alignment mis-match and not as a belt length issue.
If the pully grooves line-up, get the needed length belt and you are done.
