Well I wasn't planning on doing the swap just yet but found a 4-speed 833 from a 79 pick-up ( long tail shaft ) for $200 for everything (peddles, linkage, shifter ). Should I try to get it? I'd love to have a 4-speed for the increased fun and mileage factors.

If you're going to put it in a pickup sure, get it. Don't forget the clutch, bellhousing, flywheel, etc. Make sure you can put a pilot bushing in your crank.
