Well I got most of the way through getting the lower end cleaned up and resealed, so I could drop the mill and tranny back into the Hpak duster...

This engine has 7 years of off and on hard use (quite a few 5500-6200 rpm power launches), and daily driving for 53,000 miles so far...

Cam button is a bit 'flattened' but still doing it's job, this is probably why my compcam 252 hasn't grenaded the oil pump gear, and the wear pattern is straight and right down the center of the pump gear

One thing I noticed when doing the BV cast crank engine was the comp cam in it was a bit 'loose' with the bearings (but when checking the tolerances they were within the 'goalposts' of the specs... but the cam button was insurance anyway...)

Image

The double roller set still looked new, had the same deflection it had when I put it in (and when I added the cam button along with the second 'peg' on the cam/timing gear)...

Thought I'd show and tell while I was in there...

"Who thought that a suspension overhaul would include an engine regasket, a clutch change, and a massive headache?"

I'll bring some tylenol next time I come up!

Did you want me to grab some more washers for the weekend? The welder's ready to go, and the tools are still on the press. We could have those bushings out of there almost as quick as you can eat a Big Mac.

I'll bring a big mac and I think it's a 'race'...

Will check the schedule for Saturday (plus I want to check the 'economy' rejet on long distance travel in the BV...)

I'll be here! I picked up some washers today for the weld job.

I need to torque everything up on my front end, and rough the alignment in.

Today I put the new steering box, pitman and idler arm in...(and resealed the engine, and got a spare flywheel resurfaced...and pitched out two sets of old rotors that were beyond spec, and got an 11" truck bellhousing, and 1963 yellow 225 block, and....)

That idler arm bolt torqued to 175 ft lbs is enough for me to say 'Icyhot'...
The bad part is a used a 3/4" torque wrench and it's as long as my leg...

The wife's at Bunko tonight, so tomorrow I'll ask and get a time for saturday morning (probably won't mind since she has bunko tonight...)

sheesh, maybe tomorrow, I'll get the engine and tranny back into the car, by then my motor mounts should be in since the originals were tanked, then I'll also have to get new u-joints since I don't trust the 7 year old joints on the driveshaft....

"What else should I replace...oh, yeah... the owner... he had a heart attack from the repair bill..."

After we finish your bushings, wanna run down to Fopars? It's only 20 some miles. He's busy getting creative!

Fopar's putting his 904 back together and will be tearing down his Engine. I'd like to get a ride in BV with that progressive Holley. Ulterior motive. I heard you bark the tires the other day!

Did you get something worked out for the Accelerator Pump? I've got some alloy, and the mill/lathe is sitting there looking lonely!
