I would check the steering column to make sure you didn't short the wire to the gear indicator and blow the dash light fuse.

In the fusebox. Same fuse usually runs the brake lamps, so check if those are working, too. Have you got a factory service manual for the car yet?

the loose yellow wire goes to the gear indicator.

i don't have a proper service manual yet, and right now i can't afford one. as soon as i can i will pick it up. work has been slow and i am looking for a part time job hopefully working nights a couple days a week. so i can finish up my dart.

OK, no service manual yet...go grab a free high quality wiring diagram for your '73 Dart here (get both pages "A" and "B") and put that multimeter to work, one wire at a time...

well i now have dash lights, it was a combo of bad wiring (wires going to the wrong places) that wiring digaram helped a ton! and even tho the fuse passed on my cheapo meter, i tested it on my scope meter and it was dead, so i pulled it and noticed it was dead also. by chance i had a replace ment. got that installed and bingo!

anyone have any ideas why i do not have turn siginals & back up lights?
i have replaced almost everything, i am gonna replace that harness since i belive it to be suspect.

thanks to joshie and sl6 dan!

i have no idea what i would do with out this forum!

Do your brake lights work? Do your front turn signals work?

brake lights work. parking lights work. hazzards work

turn siginal switch works, (tested by pressing brakes and moving switch)

replaced flashers, turn siginal switch, ingintion switch, back up light part on transmission. checked trunk grounds, replaced bulbs for backup lights.

i have a feeling that the other wiring harness is bad. the ingintion switch harness was bad. so i will replace that harness and take it from there i guess. unless there is somthing i am over looking.

well i replaced the other wiring harness, i hope i did a nice job. i soldered the connections and used some nice heatshrink tubbing to insluate the connections. looks great.

but still no turn siginals or back up lights. i have followed the wires and they match up with the digaram.

is there a fuseable link that could be bad?

also could there be a problem with another connector or harness thru the firewall?

Find the flasher and see if you have any power to it when the key is on.

For the backup lights, look for the switch. Depending on the year, it should be on the top of the steering column or in the trans. You should have power to one side of the switch with the key on.

1973-1976 has a 2 or 3 prong switch in the back of the tranny... time to jack it up, shift it and check the switch (if it's a 3 prong... one is the common, one the reverse switch and the other the neutral safety switch... make sure those are going to the right parts...)

Good Luck!
